Working on Fire leads Innibos parade celebrating diversity
WOF was invited to lead over 800 excited locals in the first ever Innibos Cultural Parade. The parade, which kicked off the 2016 Innibos festival, was aimed at celebrating the diversity of cultures and people Mpumalanga has to offer.
Sandra Jacobs, media organiser of Innibos, said, “It is everyone’s festival, thus everyone’s parade, creating an atmosphere of celebration amongst the community.” The parade was made up of various cultural-, musical-, school- and community groups and filled the streets of Mbombela with colours and festivity.
Mbuso Siwela, a structural firefighter, said, “It was an excellent way to showcase our soldiers and the work we do for our community.”
The firefighters enjoyed engaging with the community, learning about other cultures and socialising while walking the 3.3 kilometres parade.
“We invited Working on Fire because they are an integral part of the Lowveld,” said Sandra, “it was wonderful to show off our fire warriors.”
WOF would like to commend Innibos for a successful parade and will certainly participate in the next to come.
