HELICOPTER PILOT - ANTI-POACHING

Purpose of the Role:

Operations in hostile environment, rural environment and/ or including extended off base deployments to protect wildlife from poachers.

Position reports to:

Line Captain, Chief Pilot and Responsible Person Flight Operations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current South African Commercial Pilots Licence or higher.
  • 600 Hours Total Time.
  • 400 Hours PIC.
  • Bell 206 Jet and Long Ranger on license.
  • Night Rating.

The following would be considered favourable:

  • Game / Capture rating with valid documentation.
  • Cull Rating
  • Aviation law-enforcement experience.
  • NVG rating and experience

Key Performance Areas:

Responsible for Anti-Poaching

  • Login daily on Air Maestro to complete timesheets.
  • Met the requirements of the Firearms Control Act to and be prepared to carry a firearm.
  • Operations in hostile environment, rural environment and/ or including extended off base deployments.
  • Completing captain log accurately after flight and submit to dispatch.
  • Complete all documentation in a professional, net, legible and correct format. Compile in reasonable time.
  • Ezemvelo Kwazulu Natal wildlife patrol logs.
  • Reports as well as all other administrative requirements of Ezemvelo Kwazulu Natal wildlife protocols an SOP’s.
  • Managed helicopter logistics by inter alia managing and keeping u to date maintenance schedules, managing of fuel stocks, etc.

Other Responsibilities

  • Aircraft ferries as required by management.
  • Adhering to company SOP’s, SACAA’s CATS and CAR’s.
  • Always operate according to SACAA regulations.

Aircraft Care

  • Kept aircraft neat, clean, and tidy always.
  • Sunscreens put u to protect the interior from damage when aircraft is parked for extended periods in the open.
  • Post flight inspections where appropriate – snags have been reported to the relieving pilot.
  • Aircraft always tied down when not on standby and after hours.
  • Handover from neatly completed and the following aircraft equipment and auxiliary equipment handed over.

Additional Key Performance Areas:

  • Meet the requirements of the Firearms Control Act to and be prepared to carry a firearm
  • Police Clearance Certificate
  • Be prepared to operate in a hostile environment
  • Be prepared to operate in rural environments, including extended off-base deployments
  • Be willing to work irregular hours
  • Compile within a reasonable time, Ezemvelo Patrol Logs, Reaction Reports as well any and all other administrative requirements of Ezemvelo protocols, and standard operating procedures, and any other administrative requirements.
  • Submit to lawful Ezemvelo standing operating procedures
  • Manage helicopter logistics by inter alia managing and keeping up to date maintenance schedules, managing of fuel stocks, etc.
  • Be mindful of and respect the protocols over the varius properties in the Ezemvelo operational area
  • Always operate according to the CAA Regulations
  • Have no criminal recored
  • Be prepared to undergo a polygraph test and background checs ad sign all documents pertaining thereto.

Appointment will be subject to a compulsory 3 (three) month probationary period with the promise of becoming a permanent position. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience. Remuneration: Market Related
Duration: 3-month probation / permanent
