During the 2016 Hi-Q Lions Charity Bed Race, Kishugu and Working on Fire (WOF) once again directed their speed and agility to supporting charity. Over the last few years, this energetic and spirited team has become a crowd favourite and contestant to be reckoned with.

Their blazing bed sped around the track, while their supporting team enthusiastically cheered them on. Their passion and commitment on, and off the track, earned them a fourth place in the race and a gold for Best Team Spirit.

“It was a privilege to be part of the Lions Bed Race. It is in the heart of Working on Fire and Kishugu to give back to the community,” said Tembiso Mhlanga from the WOF Barberton Base.

This fun-filled corporate event, annually hosted by the Nelspruit Lions Club, encourages companies to get involved and support those in need, while having fun.  Companies can enter as many teams as they like and the entry fees are donated to charity. This year the Nelspruit Lions club raised in excess of R30,000 which will go towards supporting the Dasha Foundation – a school for disabled children – as well as other local charity organisations.

“We have to be fit while fighting wildfires, in order to save people’s lives and protect nature. Today we enjoyed being able to use our skills to help improve the lives of those in need,” said Jabulani Mabuza from the WOF Barberton Base.
