WOF empowers farmers at Nampo – the largest show in the Southern Hemisphere
During Grain SA’s 51st NAMPO Harvest Day, Working on Fire’s (WOF) commercial department – WOF Services and Commodities – empowered numerous farmers and landowners with its wide range of firefighting solutions.
NAMPO is one of the largest privately organised and owned exhibitions in the world and the largest show of agricultural machinery and livestock in the southern hemisphere. It takes place annually outside Bothaville in the Free State, and aims to connect farmers and suppliers.
A record total of 78,648 visitors entered the Nampo grounds to see what the more than 700 exhibitors had to offer.
With the current drought, a large part of the agricultural community is left exposed to the possibility of unwanted wildfires. “We should not underestimate the impact of the drought. Last season’s rains have not nearly been enough to put us out of danger,” said WOF Provincial General Manager in Mpumalanga, Martin Bolton. Farmers need to take the necessary precautions and equip themselves to guard against a repeat of the Cape fire season.
WOF Services and Commodities, with support from ProcurePoint Trading and Kishugu Training, exhibited at this year’s NAMPO to empower farmers and landowners with its knowledge and experience in Integrated Fire Management (IFM). Their IFM services, products and solutions included fire management and related training, fire management plans and solutions, firefighting PPC and equipment, prevention and suppression activities through designated teams and more.
“If a company wants to establish itself in the South African agricultural sector, it needs to be at NAMPO,” said Gary Els, National Commercial Manager for WOF Services and Commodities. “It is not just about immediate sales – NAMPO offers you the opportunity to create brand awareness and generate leads with big businesses and corporations within this focussed market.”
“This year, WOF Services and Commodities experienced its best NAMPO yet,” said Els. “We sold 17 Bakkie Sakkies*, water cars and trailers, 136 overalls, all the fire suppression liquid* we had at the stand, 42 fire beaters and much more. We are honoured to share our fire expertise and knowledge with the agricultural industry and hope that it will serve them well during the current winter fire season.”
WOF Services and Commodities is currently exhibiting at the Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg which runs until Sunday, 04 June 2017.
